Lys is passionate about using the latest technologies to improve the auditory health and well being of clients. She has a strong ethos about excellence in professional hearing healthcare, excellence in customer service and doing the best she can to assist clients with their hearing.
Lys has over 28 years extensive experience (full time work) in many audiological fields including; adult rehabilitation within Government, audiological diagnosis for adults and children in Hospitals, international academia and lecturing in a University Hospital, local government community health and finally audiology in private practice.
After graduation, Lys spent 3 years at Australian Hearing in Sydney and Brisbane, followed by 2 years as a Hospital Audiologist at St Andrews Neurosensory Unit in Brisbane. During this time Lys worked with Brisbane’s first ever Cochlear Implant recipient.
Lys relocated with her husband for 2 years to Kuala Lumpur and worked as the sole Paediatric Audiologist/Lecturer at University Kebangsaan Malaysia – a large teaching hospital. Lys established a hearing aid dispensary and ear mould laboratory at the hospital for hearing impaired children, in addition to teaching undergraduate medical students and servicing severely impaired patients.
Returning to Australia, Lys was the Senior Audiologist of the Broadmeadows Community Health Centre (largest CHC in Australia), providing healthy hearing programs and instigating new audiology services.
Finally, Lys fulfilled her dream to set up a private practice, Hearing Professionals, in 1997, with a goal to provide higher levels of audiological care to a broad client base, supported by cutting edge technology and rehabilitative techniques not available in the public sector.
Since 2000, Lys has been an active member of Independent Audiologists Australia, to assist with the promotion of Independent practice and continual professional development of its members. Lys is also a member of the American Academy of Audiology, where she regularly attends conferences to gain access to the latest central auditory processing developments and hearing device technologies and rehabilitation.
Away from the clinic, Lys is a proud mother to her 2 children, enjoys going to the gym and is learning to play the piano.
